Pipo Tafel
Pipo Tafel is based in Cologne where he creates his dance, film and multimedia projects.
He studied Multimedia in Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and contemporary dance in Folkwang Academy Essen then as part of the project D.A.N.C.E. at Palucca Schule in Dresden, at the Ballet National de Marseille, in Brussels and Frankfurt. As a performer, assistant director, and multimedia artist, he has worked with William Forsythe, Thierry De Mey, Christian Spuck and Wayne McGregor.
Pipo Tafel was an artist in residence at studios Stipend in Koelnischer Kunstverein for the 2008/2010 session. He is supported by The Arts Foundation Baden-Württemberg as part of Performing Arts Stipend 2009.

2009: Writing on Water – Folkwang Tanzstudio Essen / choreography by Leandro Kees. Video set design /camera choreography / video editing / Set design.
2008: ERICA – Semper Oper Dresden kleine szene, Promoting young talent Dance production 2008 Tanzplan Dresden – Interdisciplinary dance performance – concept / direction / set video.
2007 - 2009: Vue Salée – National Short Film Funding, Film Funding NRW, Arts Foundation NRW, German Academic Exchange Service Stipend 2007 – dance/documentary film (26’) in Marseille – production / choreography / dance / editing.

Pipo Tafel
Un jeune homme se réveille sur le parvis d’une église. Il ne sait pas
s’il s’agit de la réalité ou d’un rêve. En descendant l’escalier de
l’église qui semble interminable, les souvenirs du passé affluent.
Les Souvenirs
: trajectoire habitée par des corps, ceux de la mémoire. Qui lance la
question de la manipulation de l’individu dans sa relation aux autres,
dont l’existence est figée dans un temps, imaginaire, rêvé...
On
plonge dans un plan séquence entrecroisé de deux chorégraphies
convergentes, celle du corps des performers et celle de la caméra.
Un exercice à la fois simple, concret et méticuleux, qui nous révèle l’intelligence et la sensibilité de cet artiste allemand.
