The Jaguar and the Snake is the third volume of the series Endangered Human Movements, which explores endangered or disappearing traditional dances due to globalization or colonisation.

This play is based on hybrid beings living in the Native American oral and visual imaginary world. Amanda Piña, Lina María Venegas and Yoan Sorin endeavour to embody this iconography, mainly focusing their work on the place of meeting, merging and transformation between animals, humans and plants. Amanda Piña explores how these concepts are grasped in the Native American culture, creating a visionary world between ancestral indigenous knowledge and contemporary performance.

“Art can be a sort of magic; I believe in its power of transformation”, says the Mexican-Chilean choreographer. Her shows are rituals in which the relationships between the performers and the audience are of paramount importance.
