Louis Vanhaverbeke
Louis Vanhaverbeke est né en 1988 à Gand. Passé par l’école d’Arts de Gand puis par la School for New Dance Development à Amsterdam, il développe une pratique à la croisée de la performance, de l’installation, du spoken word, du DJing et du théâtre d’objets. Il crée notamment son solo Kokokito en 2015 pour lequel il gagne le Circuit X, prize for young talent au TAZ#2015. En 2016, il commence à collaborer avec CAMPO, centre d’arts à Gand. En 2017, il est artiste associé au prestigieux Beursschouwburg à Bruxelles.

Like a satellite around the earth, Louis Vanhaverbeke handles the daily-life objects around him: a frisbee, a funnel or a plastic bucket. He animates them with his slam, rap and other poetry pieces. With a very personal toolbox, he swiftly goes through references, switches from male to female gender, from Chic to Giorgio Moroder, from earth to space, from water to fire. Uncatchable, he takes us to a multiple and unclassifiable world. The sophisticated chaos is puzzling and captivating for the audience through its fertile creativity. The objects travel with him in this experiment, as though they kept him alive. A Do It Yourself ever so slightly cosmic cocktail.
