Begüm Erciyas
Née en 1982 à Ankara, Begüm Erciyas a étudié la biologie moléculaire et la génétique à Ankara, où elle est devenue membre de [laboratuar], projet d’arts performatifs et groupe de recherche. Elle est diplômée du Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD). En 2006, elle reçoit la bourse d’études DanceWEB. Elle est depuis devenue un membre actif de « Sweet and Tender Collaborations ». Begüm Erciyas était en résidence à l’Akademie Schloss Solitude, au K3 - Centre for Choreography à Hambourg et à Tanzwerbstatt Berlin. En 2014, elle était membre de la Villa Kamogawa / Goethe-Institut Kyoto. Ses travaux récents : Ballroom (2010), this piece is still to come (2012), A Speculation (2014).

Voicing Pieces is a sound piece whose only protagonist is our own voice. Out of sight, viewers slip in a sort of black welcoming cloud. Alone in front of the text and guided by a simple script, they become both spectators and actors in this performance challenging our reference points. The act of talking and listening activates a unique theatrical and choreographic experiment, sculpted by each interpretation of the score. It is the place of action, of the show and subject to surprises. Who speaks when I speak? Doesn’t my own voice always seem strange and unauthentic? Through this distancing and disrupting process, Voicing Pieces invites you to discover and accept the stranger within yourself.
